A beautifully curated Morocco experience with a few important gaps
Our Morocco trip (March 20–29, 2026) was thoughtfully planned and filled with meaningful cultural experiences, though a few elements did not meet expectations.
The standout of the trip was our main driver - exceptional in every way - and all of our guides were incredible, knowledgeable, and truly brought each city to life. That level of professionalism made a big difference throughout the journey.
That said, there were some disappointments. Our arrival at the Fairmont in Rabat was not smooth - our room was not ready at 11 PM, there was confusion with accommodations for our family, and we were charged for drinks presented as complimentary. The room location was also very loud, facing a main road.
Fes was the most difficult part of the trip. The hotel experience felt unsafe and should not have been offered. There was active construction at an adjacent property, creating constant dust, noise, and disruption. At one point, our son was nearly hit with cement while work was ongoing near the entrance. This was not an acceptable environment for guests.
We also did not particularly enjoy the included dinners, which felt below the level of the overall trip.
On the positive side, Marrakech was absolutely lovely - beautiful, well-run, and a true highlight. Casablanca’s Four Seasons is a beautiful property, though not worth the cost for such a short overnight stay.
If we were to adjust the itinerary, we would recommend less time in Fes, more time in Marrakech, and a better balance across cities to fully enjoy each destination.
Morocco is an incredible country, and with a few adjustments - especially around hotel selection and dining - this trip could have been exceptional from start to finish.
